My Agenda

My agenda is to focus on legislation that helps drive the building of a more desirable future for our people. I will be strong on the following:

  • Health and Human capacity development
  • Agriculture
  • Security and safety
  • Knowledge based solutions
  • Education and Economic Empowerment

 

HEALTH AND HUMAN CAPACITY DEVELOPEMENT

With regards to health and development of human capacity, I will:

  • Support policies and programmes focused on improving and driving far-reaching health care service to our people
  • Support policies that focus on investment in people, empowering them with the right mindset that make for development
  • Support programmes that help build future leaders through developing of the youths in educational, political, health and other sectors so we can have sustainable growth and development
  • Focus on policies that help the youths understand their rights and civic duties
  • Focus on programmes that help the youths understand that one of the causes of the present situation is bad governance.
  • Focus on programmes that educate them of the need to make the right choice when electing leaders and the need to hold them accountable.

 

AGRICULTURE

In the area of agriculture I will:

  • Support policies that will drive investment in agriculture and other sustainable farming methods
  • Support programmes that ensure supply of simple agricultural implements, and supply of improved seedling
  • Support strategic approach to agriculture and agricultural policies.

 

SECURITY AND SAFETY

With regards to issues relating to safety and security of the North-East in general and Southern Borno in particular:

  • I will work closely and support all programmes that will bring peace in the country, the region and specifically the community.
  • I will support other local initiatives that are already cooperating and working with our armed forces and yielding good outcome in maintainers of peace and security of the area
  • I will continue to perform the oversight functions and support all legislation and bills that will enhance security and promote good governance and rule of law
  • I will pursue and lobby aggressively for the full utilization of security votes by the executives at all levels of governance for security and for no other purpose
  • I will support and be strong on legislation that will bring desired autonomy to local government areas to ensure grassroots development and initiatives that will encourage peaceful coexistence in our communities

 

KNOWLEDGE BASED SOLUTIONS

With regards to the area of knowledge, I believe innovative and high impact solutions can be provided when there’s accurately researched data about problems. There’s no one solution that can properly address the challenges of everyone. Even if the issues are the same, the appropriate solution might differ from community to community. Thus, an appropriate solution for one community may not effectively solve same problem in another community. To ensure our people are getting the right solutions to the issues they face, I will be strong on:

  • Issues being studied to produce accurate facts and data
  • Extensive consultation with communities, through town hall meetings and other appropriate media to have input in matters concerning the community and their view points on issues at stake
  • Well-researched actionable blue print that makes for high impact solutions to issues

 

EDUCATION AND ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT

In the area of education I will focus on:

  • Supporting programmes that drive good and qualitative education where there will be merit driven systems as of old
  • Supporting programmes that focus more on investment in education and educational infrastructure
  • Liaising with state government where necessary and support their initiatives that will lead to improvement of quality of teaching, teachers, teaching aids and infrastructure
  • Supporting provision of enabling environment with timelines to monitor development
  • Lobbying for a federal institution to be located in our senatorial district and pursuing of funding for smooth running of such institution
  • Support programmes focused on developing educational infrastructure, supporting the training of more teachers and seeking of more investment for education related projects
  • Support programmes that will engage women and youths in continuous and appropriate skills acquisition. We will be big on impactful empowerment and tangible transformational growth, not continuous giving of stipends that will prove to be unsustainable.

In delivering on this agenda, I aim to leave a legacy of selfless service with integrity, worthy of emulation by my successors.
